The Future Navy
The Future navy May 17, 2017 Over the past year there have been numerous studies, conducted by the navy and several other organizations, that have explored what the Future fleet should look like. Two consistent conclusions emerge from this body of work: -First, the nation needs a more powerful navy , on the order of 350 ships, that includes a combination of manned and unmanned systems. -Second, more platforms are necessary but not sufficient. The navy must also incorporate new technologies and new operational concepts. Finally, as we increase our naval power, our focus cannot be on some distant goal decades in the Future . The navy must get to work now to both build more ships, and to think forward - innovate - as we go.
