better challenge the problematic growth of conservative, neoliberal, and many would argue, unjust, movements in education (see, for example, Apple, 2001 & 1996). Our goal in this article is to sort through the social justice literature in educa-tion in order to develop a better understanding of what this work is all about and why it is important.
