Updated 5/22/20 . NRB Exceptions for Inactive and Retired Licenses in Relation to COVID-19. Several NRBs have come up with exceptions for inactive/retired licenses in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Below is a summary of NRB responses. State/Territory Summary of Exceptions Alabama Alabama BON adopted , which includes the following: 1) reduction of the fee from $600 to 250 for reactivating a retired nursing license within two years of retirement for the duration of the public health emergency. 2) CE requirement for reinstatement of a lapsed license or reactivation of a retired license are suspended for the duration of the public health emergency.
