I Communication, both verbal and nonverbal, is a fundamental human need. Meeting this need by facilitating and enhancing communication in any form can be vital to a patient's well-being. I Therapy should include tasks that focus on semantic processing, including semantic cueing of spoken output, semantic judgments, categorization, and word-to-picture matching. I Therapy may target the comprehension and production of complex, as well as simple, sen- tence forms.
zUse these activities to help the client regain the understanding that symbols stand for words, words stand for objects, and letters stand for sounds — necessary skills for reading. zRepeat the activities matching a picture to words and sentences to improve the client’s word finding skills.
