Bosch developed the Controller Area Network (CAN), which has emerged as the standard in-vehicle network. CAN provides a cheap, durable network that allows the devices to speak through the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). CAN allows the ECU to have one CAN interface rather than analog inputs to every device in the system.
