1 Samuel 16: 11-13 David was first a shepherd of livestock, but when God called him to lead the nation of Israel, he became a shepherd of people to help them become what God wanted them to be. The shepherd’s crook on today’s ornament symbolizes Jesus as the Good Shepherd who will lay down his life for others.
