STRAIGHT LINES 167 (ii) Intercept form : If C ≠ 0, then Ax + By + C = 0 can be written as C C A B x y + − − = 1 or 1 x y a b + = , where C C = and = A B a b − −. If C = 0, then Ax + By + C = 0 can be written as Ax + By = 0 which is a line passing through the origin and therefore has zero intercepts on the axes.
