These processes build databases used by the BSI Communicator to relay information between the Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) and BACnet System . As the main component of the BSI software, the BSI Communicator relays and translates information between the Metasys System and the BACnet System .
5 The BSI Configurator is a software support tool for the BSI Communicator. It is used for initial BSI Communicator setup, which includes: defining which Metasys System points are available to foreign BACnet devices defining which BACnet objects are available to the Metasys System setting System parameters in the Metasys System device object mapping priority differences between Metasys and BACnet systems establishing a data table for the different ways engineering units are represented in Metasys and BACnet systems configuring the BSI BACnet broadcast management feature setting up BACnet event notification for Metasys System points The BSI Viewer is another software support tool for the BSI Communicator.
6 Which provides the means to verify that communication is taking place between the Metasys and BACnet systems. Communication occurs by allowing data about the communication process, stored within the BSI Communicator, to be viewed. The viewable data includes: information relating to the interaction between databases and the creation of original read and write messages information regarding the transmitting and receiving of messages runtime point statistics of the BSI Communicator s cache of BACnet objects mapped into Metasys System information relating to the acknowledgment of messages information on the BSI Notification Class Objects Metasys BACnet System Integrator (BSI) Commissioning Technical Bulletin 5 Separate user screens display each aspect of this information.

8 The default database (.dat) file names cannot be changed or renamed; however, the data contained within them can be modified. Each time changes, additions, or deletions are made to the databases, the database files must be saved to the hard disk, so that when the BSI Communicator is shut down and restarted with Person-Machine Interface (PMI) or Metasys System Application Enabler (MAE), it has the current databases to relay data between the Metasys and BACnet systems. Refer to the Operator Workstation Technical Bulletin (LIT-636013) for details about shutting down and starting PMI. Refer to the Metasys Application Enabler (MAE) Technical Bulletin (LIT-636016) for details about shutting down and starting MAE.

Can be configured for a country using a hex editor if the character spacing is unchanged (no inserting, deleting, moving). (Not Configurable) Contains a list of Metasys Network Control Modules (NCMs) to be used when auto-configuring the Metasys System points to be made available to the BACnet System . Metasys BACnet System Integrator (BSI) Commissioning Technical Bulletin 7 Auto-Configuration Users can choose to commission the BSI Communicator by auto-configuring database information to save time and prevent errors.
