1 Field Engineer Page 1 of 3 P:\Job Descriptions\Job Descriptions Current\Operations\ Field Engineer - Job Title: Field Engineer Supervisor Title: Project Manager FSLA Status: Exempt EEOC Class: 002 - Professional General Summary: The Field Engineer performs routine Field and office assignments with supervision and oversight from the Project Manager or their designee. Provide support to the Project Manager or Project Director in project administration, quality, safety, invoicing/financial tracking, contract management and project data management. The Field Engineer is expected to use their experience and judgment to make decisions within their limits of authority. Measures of Impact: The Field Engineer has an impact on Operations. This is an entry level position within the Company. Budgetary responsibility is limited.
2 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Quality assurance tracking, receiving and reporting. 2. Safety support and planning work with Health and Safety Personnel. 3. Assist Project Manager/Project Director in contract administration. 4. Assist in plan & specification writing and interpretation. 5. Project administration, data management and schedule updates. 6. Assist in subcontractor management. 7. Must have and maintain a valid driver s license. 8. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing. Excellent customer relations skills. 2. Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues or risks. Have a strong work ethic. 3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 4. Proficient computer skills including the use of the Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project Scheduling.
3 5. Understand basic behavior based safety programs and enforce company s safety policies. 6. 40 hour OSHA Hazwoper training. 7. Must meet travel expectations. 8. Must perform shift work. 9. Must meet medical requirements of the job site (Hazardous waste). Education and Experience 1. Baccalaureate Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related discipline. Prefer one (1) year of heavy construction experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Career Path: Project Engineer , Project Superintendent or Project Manager depending on experience.
