(An example of this siituation is where a resident of Canyo on County o or Kuna leave es a vehicle home and trravels south for the wintter or leavess a vehicle att a vacation home for th he season.) AAn ex xtension will not be gran nted or neceessary, if thee vehicle is b being driven in an area w with a Vehicle Emiissions Testing Programs Approved for Reciproccity with Idaho.

Nonoperational vehicles A vehicle that is not drivable may qualify for an Extension not to exceed six (6) months from the testing due date. The vehicle will not be eligible for any other extensions until the vehicle passes an emissions test. The owner of the vehicle must provide a signed letter describing the vehicle's non-operational state. Please be aware that local codes and ordinances may apply to the location or storage of nonoperational vehicles. For information, contact your city and/or county planning and zoning office. Businesses with principal address in Canyon County or Kuna If a business has its principal physical address in Canyon County or within the city limits of Kuna but operating outside of the immediate testing area, these businesses may be eligible for an Extension .

5 The vehicle owner should verify that vehicle is not required to be registered in the location in which it primarily operates. If the vehicle is in another area where testing is being conducted the vehicle may be tested in accordance with the reciprocity waiver policy (Table 1). The business must submit a certified letter on company letterhead detailing the nature of the business, the location of the vehicle, and the date the vehicle is expected to be tested. Religious or humanitarian missions An Extension is available to individuals who are serving on religious or humanitarian missions during the period of their required emissions test and are not assigned to an area currently performing emissions tests or do not have their vehicles with them. These motorists are eligible for an Extension not to exceed two years. The vehicle owner must provide proof of assignment, which might include a letter from the church or organization stating the reason and duration of the mission.
