Acid Rain Experiments - Cornell University
ei.cornell.eduAcid precipitation is defined to have a pH lower than 5.6. In New York, the average pH of rainfall is 4.0-4.5 and individual storms as low as 3.0 are not unusual. Freshwater lakes commonly are slightly basic. pH's in the range of 6.5 to 8.2 are optimal for most organisms, and below 5.0 is lethal to many fish species.
Ego Depletion: Is the Active Self a Limited Resource?
faculty.washington.eduExperiment 1 provided evidence for ego depletion by examin- ing consecutive acts of self-control. The study was originally designed to test competing hypotheses about the nature of self- control, also known as self-regulation. Clearly the control over self is one of the most important and adaptive applications of ...
Experiment 5 Kinetics: The Oxidation of Iodide by Hydrogen ...
www.kbcc.cuny.edu4. Perform experiment #1 first. Then do experiment #2, then experiment #3, then experiment #4, and finally, experiment #5. 5. Measure each solution (deionized water, HCl, KI, starch, Na2S2O3, H2O2) using graduated cylinders, not beakers. Chart 1: Volumes of solutions for each experiment (Total volume = 500 mL). Use a 600 mL beaker for the ...
EXPERIMENT 5. CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY - Chemistry
www2.chemistry.msu.eduEXPERIMENT 5. CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY Objectives 1. To determine the capacitance of electrochemical interfaces. 2. To determine the formal potential and diffusion coefficient of Fe(CN) 6 3-. 3. To use cyclic voltammetry to understand the electrochemistry of Co(NH 3) 6 3+. 4. To investigate the effects of electrode contamination on cyclic voltammetry ...
Experiment 6 Transistors as amplifiers and switches
www.sophphx.caltech.eduExperiment 6 Transistors as amplifiers and switches Our final topic of the term is an introduction to the transistor as a discrete circuit element. Since an integrated circuit is constructed primarily from dozens to even millions of transistors formed from a single, thin silicon crystal, it might be interesting and instructive to
