THERMOPHILIC COMPOSTING Many composting systems are based on providing the optimal condi-tions for thermophilic composting because its high temperatures pro-mote rapid decomposition and kill weed seeds and disease-causing organisms. These high temperatures are a by-product of the intense microbial activity that occurs in thermophilic composting.
