A demonstrative is something that indicates, or points out a particular item or person. It can be used as an adjective, in which case it modifies a noun and agrees with it in gender, number, and case. It can also be used as a pronoun. As a pro-noun it would agree in gender and number with its antece-dent, which is the noun that it replaces.
