C.T. Snidow opened the Lake Shawnee Amusement Park in 1926 and operated it until 1966. In addition to dozens of carnival rides, the park featured a spring-fed swimming pool — the biggest one in this part of the state — as well as log cabins, a row of concessions stands, a quarter-mile racetrack and occasional Wild West shows.
