The 2020 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) provides us an opportunity to Show Some Love for causes that are important to us. Thousands of organizations in the CFC look to us for support. They represent hundreds of causes, from hunger and healthcare, to animal welfare and injustice, to education and veterans. Here are a few examples of the positive impact you can have locally, nationally and internationally, when you join the CFC community: $25 equips volunteer firefighters serving their community; $58 covers one year of school fees and supplies for a child; $200 trains a veteran to enter the civilian is our campaign and our story.

Being part of the CFC takes my service as Director of the Peace Corps to even greater heights, and provides me the opportunity to help those in need by joining forces and combining efforts and generosity with all. The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of all federal employees in their workplaces, postal service employees, Active Duty military, retired members of the military, and retired civilians on behalf of approved charitable is the mission of the CFC? The CFC mission is to support and promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for did the CFC begin?

8 The Federal Government created the CFC in 1961 to coordinate the fund-raising efforts of various charitable organizations. CFC solicits once-a-year contributions in the workplace and provides employees, retirees, and others the opportunity to make one-time or recurring charitable contributions through payroll deduction or other employee giving makes CFC one of the largest and most successful workplace philanthropic fundraisers in the world. Continuing a long-standing tradition, in the 2019 campaign year, federal employees, postal workers, and members of the uniformed services pledged more than $86 million to charitable causes.

9 The pledge total includes almost $ million in financial pledges and the monetary value of $ million in commitments of volunteer time. The total also includes pledges made during the April-June CFC Special Solicitation for COVID-19 its inception, federal employees have contributed more than $ billion to charities through CFC. What is the structure of the CFC? There are 36 campaign Zones in the CFC. Each Zone organizes the annual fund-raising effort in the local federal workplaces, military installations, and post offices in that jurisdiction or overseas. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) regulates the CFC and provides guidance and oversight to the local Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) oversees the CFC in each Zone for OPM.

10 The LFCC members serve as a Board of Directors. Federal employees, Active Duty military, retirees, and representatives of Federal labor unions can make up the membership of the LFCC. The LFCC ensures that campaign workers conduct the CFC according to Federal regulations and policies. The LFCC also makes application decisions on local LFCC also supervises the local Outreach Coordinator (OC). That contractor is hired by OPM to administer the CFC in the local Zone. The LFCC uses the OC to implement the campaign plan, conduct marketing activities, arrange for special events such as Charity Fairs, and educate charities and employees regarding the program.
