2020 Wildfire Activity Statistics California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection 2020 STATEWIDE FIRE SUMMARY During 2020, wildfire firefighting agencies responded to 8,648 fires that burned 4,304,379 acres. For wildfire agencies, this represents a 21% increase in the number of fires and a 1,452% increase in acres burned from 2019.
