3 < strong >Hillsidestrong > has developeda depth of fabrication expertise around passenger carriage andfreight wagon builds, while < strong >huttstrong > workshop s focus is on componentmanufacture, electric motors and heavy locomotive overhauls capabilities are also being used by customers outsidethe rail industry, from power generation and shipping, mining andforestry, to irrigation and decorative castings. KiwiRail s workshopsare a major force in New Zealand engineering, with 400 staff acrosstwo sites including electrical engineers, < strong >mechanicalstrong > engineers, tradequalified employees (maintenance and diagnostic), fitters, fabricators,a range of semi-skilled workers, engineering support and efficiency and quality standards are used across everythingwe do, including the the 5S principles, which provide the basis forcontinuous improvement and maintain workplace efficiency inproduction environments.
