2 The AAT can change Centrelink decisions The AAT has the po wer to change Centrelin k decis ions, if the decision has bee n reviewed by an Authorised Review Officer (ARO), or in most circumstances a Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Centrelink and the AAT fin ds that the decis ion do es no t accord with the law. For exampl e, the AAT can change decision s involving: Rejectio n of a claim Overpayments and deb t recovery Payment start dates Non-payment of arrears Rate of payment Disabili ty impa irment ratings Rate reductio n Shared care percentages Ca nc ellation/suspension Assessments of living arrang ements Non-payment periods Treatment of income and assets Applying to the AAT is free There is no cost to a person who wishes to have the AAT Review a Centrelink decision.
