5 Introduction to GCSE Art and Overview of GCSE Art and DesignGCSE Art and Design is made up of two GCSEs in Art and Design are organised into one combined areas of study (unendorsed) route and seven specialist focused areas of study (endorsements) as follows: Fine Art Graphic Communication Photography Lens and Light-based Media Textile Design Three-dimensional Design Critical and Contextual Studies can take the combined areas of study (unendorsed) route if they want to submit work for more than one endorsed area of study. However candidates can choose one specialist focused endorsement if they want to restrict their research and outcome(s) to one area of study. Candidates may be entered for one or more Art and Design GCSEs. For example a candidate might choose to do two GCSEs such as the GCSE in Art and Design : Applied and the GCSE in Art and Design : Textile Design .
