3 The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality in to Nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs, which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential. Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities. Essential Functions: The mission of the Nursing Department at GTCC is to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in Nursing . All students will be expected to perform assigned skills and class assignments at the same level, with or without accommodations. It is the responsibility of the applicant to read the essential functions carefully and ask for clarification of any function that is not understood. Communicate professionally and effectively with individuals, significant support person(s), and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Develop a teaching plan for individuals, and/or the Nursing team, incorporating teaching and learning principles. Manage health care for the individual using cost effective Nursing strategies, quality improvement processes, and current technologies. Incorporate informatics to formulate evidence-based clinical judgments and management decisions. Implement caring interventions incorporating documented best practices for individuals in diverse settings. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to advocate for positive individual and organizational outcome Estimated Program Costs: The approximate in-state total cost for the 5-semester ADN program is $7,800.

MINIMUM ADMISSION CRITERIA Associate Degree Nursing Program Fall 2019 Entry Application Deadline: February 15, 2019 at 5:00pm Applicant Name _____ ID# _____ Complete the GTCC Admissions Process. Applicants must have completed the GTCC admission process, including the North Carolina Residency Determination Service (RDS) process, submission of official high school/GED/adult high school transcripts, and official college transcripts. College transcripts will be reviewed for possible transfer credit. Applicants may check the status of their application by visiting and transcripts by visiting . Assessment of College-Readiness Applicants must be eligible to register for the appropriate college-level courses as required by the curriculum. Assessment of readiness may include review of high school and/or college transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, or completion of GTCC s placement test.

7 Non-college-level courses, if required, must be completed by the specified application deadline. Please see a GTCC Admissions Officer for questions regarding the steps in this part of the process. Attend a Mandatory 2019 Nursing Programs Information Session. Complete a required Nursing Program Information Session before the application deadline. No registration is required. Schedule an appointment as needed with the Limited Entry Programs Office (Hassell Health Technologies, Room 140, Jamestown Campus) to make sure you are on-track to apply to the program by the specified deadline. Scores from other colleges will be accepted, but they must be from the TEAS The test fee is $55 for GTCC students (will increase to $58 effective July 1, 2018) and $90 for non-GTCC students and is not covered by financial aid. You must register ONLINE for the TEAS at . It is offered at the Jamestown Campus only on Monday through Thursday at 9:30am and 1:30pm. 10 Submit the Health Sciences Limited Entry Application Package by 5:00pm on Friday, February 15, 2019. Gather all of the required documents for the Health Sciences Limited Entry Application Package and submit them to the Limited Entry Programs Office, located in Hassell Health Technologies Center, Room 140 on the Jamestown campus. Complete the Health Sciences Application and Checklist. Verify that all transcripts have been received by GTCC and attach a copy of your WebAdvisor transcript. Attach a copy of the results of any required pre-admission tests ( TEAS ). Attach all other documentation required on the Program Information Sheet and Application Checklist. Applications received after 5pm on the deadline will not be accepted.
