ABSTRACT (Continue on reverse if necessary and identify by block number)As part of boresighting the 25-mm gun of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV), the turrettechnical manual (TM 9-2350-252-10-2) describes how to test the accuracy of the boresighttelescope.

6 However, BFV literature does not provide accuracy tests for the 25-mm boresightadapter or the 25-mm Boresight kit (adapter plus telescope). This pamphlet describes test-ing Procedures for the Boresight telescope, 25-mm adapter, and kit. The kit test should beconducted prior to boresighting. Inaccurate kits should be'reported through the chain ofcommand to the battalion. When inaccuratelkits are reported, master gunners conductseparate accuracy !tests of telescopes and 5-mm adapters. Inaccurate telescopes andadapters are reported using the quality deficiency report.

7 Accurate Equipment is used toform accurate 25-mm Boresight kits. Testing Procedures in this pamphlet will be includedin the BFV gunnery field manual (FM 23-1).20. 9 Con-sistent with this mission, problem analysis indicated that fielded boresightequipment for the 25-mm gun was inaccurate. BFV Boresight Equipment was In-accurate because accuracy tests and standards for the 25-mm adapter and 25-mmboresight kit did not exist and telescope test TH 9-2350-252-10-2 did notassess the required standard. This research effort developed or modifiedaccuracy Testing Procedures for the Boresight telescope, 25-mm adapter, and25-mm kit. This pamphlet, intended for BFV users, provides step-by-stepprocedures for Testing 25-mm Boresight 's Fort Benning Field Unit, a division of the Training Research Labo-ratory, monitored this research.

10 ARI's mission is to conduct research oftraining and training technology using infantry combat systems and problems asmediums. The research task that supports this mission, "Advanced Methods andSystems for Fighting Vehicle Training," is organized under the "Train theForce" program area. Sponsorship for this research is provided by a Memoran-dum of Understanding (effective 31 May 1983) between the Army InfantrySchool (USAIS), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Training TechnologyAgency, and ARI, which established how joint efforts to improve BFV tacticaldoctrine, unit, and gunnery training would pamphlet was fielded by USAIS during the 1987 USAIS Gunnery Confer-ence.
