Brief Industrial Profile of BAGHPAT- District 1. General Characteristics of the District - District BAGPAT is one of the District of Uttar Pradesh. It was originally known as Vyagprastha' - Land of Tigers (because of the population of tigers found many centuries ago. Later on i t was changed to BAGPAT . The main commercial activity of the people living in this region is making and selling GUD and Sugar . Apart from this, there are certain units who are involved in the making of shoes and agricultural equipment's. Baghpat is considered to be one of "The best to live in" because of its very green and healthy environment. Baghpat is also one of the most productive districts in the field of sugarcane production. Baghpat is also the home town of former Indian Prime Minister of India "Ch. Charan Singh", also known as "kisano ka masheeha".)

3 The main education hub of Baghpat is in Baraut. Location & Geographical Area. BAGPAT city is Located on the banks of river Yamuna at O North Latitude and O. East Longitude. It is 52 K M from Meerut City and is on t he main Delhi . Sharanpur Highway around 40 KM from Delhi. In the north of the District Baghpat there is District Muzaffarnagar, in the south District Ghaziabad, in the west river Yamuna and District Rohtak of Harayana. The shape of the District BAGPAT is rectangular which area is more in north to south than east to west. It is very closely located to (around 40 Km) the national capital New Delhi. The total area of Baghpat District in 2001 amounted to 134994 Hectares or 1321 square km. Topography From the point of view of health the climate of District Baghpat is very good. Specially from November to March months the climate of the District is very pleasant due to western-northern airflow. Here summer starts very early. The temperature of the District is varies from 2 C in winter to 46 C in summer.

4 The wet session normally starts 3. in the end of June month. The average rainfall is 768 mm; the winter months are virtually dry. Availability of Minerals. There is no Mineral available in the District FOREST. The total forest area of the District is 1525 hectare. Administrative set up.
