The Department of Social Sciences is offering a professional development opportunity to interested teachers who would like to learn best practices in terms of preparing a group of students to participate in the upcoming Geography and/or History Bee competitions. The workshop is open to both elementary and secondary teachers. It is the expectation that if you attend the workshop, you will prepare a team and enter in the Spring 2016 Geography and/or History Bee Competition. Specific dates of competitions and registration information will be shared at the training.

2 During this workshop, teachers will gain insight on how to effectively establish a Geography and/or History Bee team in order to participate in the Spring 2016 Geography and/or History Bee competitions for elementary and secondary students as well as learn about the importance of providing enrichment opportunities for students. Workshop and registration details are as follows: o Workshop time: 8:30 3:30 o Workshop date: Wednesday, December 9, 2015. o Workshop Location: Miami Dade College-North Campus 11380 NW 27th Ave, Miami, FL 33167. Building 2-LECTURE ROOM 2151. Parking is FREE at Miami-Dade College North Campus. Teachers will receive 7 MPP for successfully completing all workshop requirements. To register, go to MYLEARNINGPLAN and search for the course titled: Geography Bee and History Bee Teacher Training. Substitute coverage will be provided. The specific funding structure for substitutes will be emailed to registered teachers at a later date.
