Dana Spicer Australia will be introducing a new Centre bearing in production on the 1st Nov 2006, our current 1810, SPL170 & SPL250 series Centre bearing is being superseded by a new and improved Centre bearing , the Dana Spicer XC Centre bearing , which has an innovative design that simplifies installation and alignment of driveshaft assemblies, while providing improved reliability and durability. The new XC Centre bearing has an extended life ball bearing with improved sealing and upgraded rubber cushion designs.

2 These features eliminate the need for slingers and provide improved performance and reduced maintenance. The elastomer isolator system maintains optimal performance at side view variations of plus or minus 10 degrees, ensuring that the driveline system is correctly aligned and operating smoothly and efficiently. The XC center bearing weighs roughly kg less than the current designs. 3 Cross Reference Chart: Spicer Service Parts Dana Holding Corporation The XC Centre bearing can be fitted to current vehicles that have the old part number Centre bearing . NOTE: If the existing Centre bearing has a "U" bolt fixing or angle adjusting plate between Centre bearing and mounting surface they must not be used on the XC model. CAUTION: if the vehicle is fitted with a XC Centre bearing from production then it MUST be replaced with the relevant XC Centre bearing part number, in no circumstances must an existing part number be used in place of the new XC Centre bearing part number. If replacing the old part number Centre bearing with the new XC Centre bearing it is recommended to remove the slingers from the driveshaft assembly.

4 When re-fitting or replacing the XC Centre bearing it is essential that the rubber cushion is fully compressed and the Centre bearing bracket is clamped correctly. If the center bearing is clamped correctly, it should show no visible gaps between the feet and the clamping surface (cross member). Dana Spicer recommends UNF Grade 5 or Metric Grade bolts and locking nuts be used to clamp the Centre bearing bracket to the clamping surface (cross member) Current literature can be downloaded from Click on the Literature button or The EXPERT icon, and navigate to the literature needed.
