2 341-5300 i California State Water Resources Control Board STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD AND California REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARDS The State Water Resources Control Board was established in 1967 by the Legislature. The Board succeeded to the functions of the former State Water Rights Board and the State Water Quality Control Board. The nine California Regional Water Quality Control Boards were originally established in the Dickey Water Pollution Control Act of 1949. Together the ten water boards have primarily responsibility for implementing and enforcing the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act.

3 This pamphlet contains portions of the California Code of Regulations applicable to the State Water Resources Control Board s administration of water rights. The State Water Resources Control Board publishes this collection as part of its public information program. This booklet is provided as a public service.
