The RESTRICTIONS do not apply to carriage under ADR. I. RESTRICTIONS on highways These RESTRICTIONS are based on the Ordinance by the Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology concerning Rest-rictions for Transport Units carrying Dangerous Goods through Highway Tunnels (Verordnung der Bundesministerin f r Verkehr, In-novation und Technologie ber Beschr nkungen f r Bef rderungseinheiten mit gef hrlichen G tern beim Befahren von Autobahn-tunneln, BGBl.)

2 II Nr. 395/2001) (For the text of the ordinance in German see Page 2 of 20 Explanations to the RESTRICTIONS under I.: Transport units with high risk are transport units subject to marking with orange-coloured plates whose hazard identification number - has "2" as first figure ( 20, 225 or 23) or - has doubling of figures "3", "4", "5", "6" or "8" ( 33, 333, 336 or 44) or - is prefixed by the letter "X" ( X423). Types of conditions 1 The transport units must be fitted with at least one amber warning lamp. That lamp must be switched on before entry and remain in operation throughout the route concerned. 2 The transport units must be accompanied by at least one escort vehicle. During the escort the escort vehicle must operate an amber warning light as well. The crew of the escort vehicle must have the information about the ADR classification of the goods being carried, as contained in the transport document(s), together with the quantity.

3 At least one member of the crew of the escort vehicle must hold an ADR training certificate for drivers. 9 RESTRICTIONS on roads other than highways These RESTRICTIONS are based on the ordinances (Verordnungen) issued by the governments of the federal provinces or by the regional administra-tion authorities figuring under the column Legal Source . Explanations to the RESTRICTIONS under II. Transport units with high risk are transport units subject to marking with orange-coloured plates whose hazard identification number - has "2" as first figure ( 20 or 23) or - has doubling of figures "2" to "8" ( 33 or 44) or - is prefixed by the letter "X". Types of conditions 3 The transport unit must be fitted with at least one amber warning lamp. That lamp must be switched on before entry and remain in operation throughout the route concerned. 4 The drivers of the transport units have to notify the tunnel control of the ADR classification of the goods being carried, as contained in the transport documents, together with the quantity.

10 5 The transport units must be accompanied by at least one escort vehicle. During the escort the escort vehicle must operate an amber warning light as well. 6 The drivers must obtain permission to pass by the tunnel control. 7 The drivers have to observe a minimum distance to the vehicle in front.
