2 Operating our vast drinking water system with a growing population requires constant upgrades, improvements, maintenance, and expansion. Project SummaryTo meet the growing demand for drinking water, Metro Vancouver is building a new, above-ground Reservoir to replace the aging water tank at 72 Avenue and 190 Street in Surrey. The Clayton Reservoir Project will ensure the reliable supply of clean, safe drinking water for the region s growing population, and includes: An above-ground Reservoir New underground chambers and water mains that will connect to the existing distribution system Demolition of the existing concrete water tank Landscaping to enhance the community spaceThe area surrounding the new structure will be restored and integrated into Hazelgrove Park.

3 The site will feature a landscaped community space and a paved access road that can be used by the public for walking and biking. 4 If work outside of the typical hours is required, Metro Vancouver will apply for a bylaw variance from the City of Surrey, and provide residents with advance notice. Metro Vancouver will: Ensure SafetyTo protect the welfare of everyone in and around the construction area, the contractor must: Maintain fencing around work zones Contain construction activities within work zones Adhere to the Traffic Management Plan which requires temporary traffic control measures in place, including traffic control personnel Adhere to WorkSafe BC RegulationsKeep Traffic moving Metro Vancouver will actively monitor traffic activity in the Project area throughout construction.

5 To keep traffic moving , the contractor will: Implement the Traffic Management Plan created by traffic experts Carefully monitor traffic flows and adjust the Traffic Management Plan when necessary Monitor and Manage Noise During construction hours, the contractor will monitor noise levels to ensure they are within the City of Surrey s noise bylaw requirements. The Community Liaison Officer will be available to respond to any concerns related to construction schedule and methods have been designed to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible. There may be times when work is required outside of regular bylaw hours. 6 A Community Liaison Officer has been appointed to this Project and is available to speak to residents about the Project . During construction, the Officer will be available for open communication between the community and the Project team. The Project team has been working closely with the City of Surrey, as well as residents and schools in the area to identify impacts early in the process. Metro Vancouver s reservoirs facts: Metro Vancouver owns and maintains over 20 reservoirs across the region. Reservoirs are refilled overnight to provide water supply during high water demand times, including early morning when many residents shower, flush toilets, prepare meals, and businesses start opening. All reservoirs are constructed to strict codes and standards and inspected regularly.

7 Reservoirs are monitored 24 hours a day. Metro Vancouver reservoirs are constructed of concrete because they are relatively low maintenance compared to reservoirs made of steel. Reservoirs increase the reliability of water supply in the area especially during the hot and dry drinking water flows seamlessly into member municipalities distribution systems which delivers it to properties for businesses and residents. Metro Vancouver captures, stores, and treats your drinking water, then distributes it wholesale to our member municipalities using a network of dams, water mains, pumping stations, storage reservoirs and secondary disinfection stations.
