1 Community Mapping Examples Community Mapping can be used to create a visual image that can guide Community planning processes. Community Mapping focuses on a Community 's capacities and assets. Which assets are identified is frequently determined by the focus or the issue that is being addressed. For example , if the issue is that youth do not have designated or safe places to meet or gather as a group, then the asset map could identify Community buildings where youth are welcomed; well developed and safe parks; or organized youth organizations with on-site facilities. What makes Mapping projects unique is the diversity of application. Community Mapping can be effective in rural and urban communities. They can also reflect a broad diversity of cultural backgrounds. Community Mapping experiences create a useful way to engage youth and adults together as they examine their Community , identifying assets that contribute to positive Community growth. Maps that highlight the availability OR lack of Community assets can be a powerful tool when making a case for change.
