3 You can qualify for a NSFAS loan if you are:- A South African citizen;- Registered at a South African university or University of Technology;- An undergraduate, studying for a first tertiary educational qualification; or- Studying for a second tertiary qualification, if this is necessary to practice in your chosen profession; ( LLB or HDE)- Able to demonstrate potential for academic success;- Financially needy;- You will, however, be expected to make your own family contribution towards the total costs of your studies.

Supporting documents must be submitted directly to NSFAS or at the Financial Aid Cycle: 1st August to 30th November: Students entering university for the first time in 2017 including 2016 matriculants;2nd Cycle: 1st September to 30th November: All university students who were not funded by NSFAS in :VUT offers 14 lucrative bursaries to the first two categories and 6 students to the last category as follows:1.

5 Merit Award Bursary2. Sports Bursary3. Red CarpetThe first 2 bursary categories are available to 14 students who have scored between 80% -100% in their grade 12 exam results. They include top achiev-ers and the sports champions with verifiable reference. The two bursary categories will be available for the duration of the study period provided the student passes all the courses taken for the academic semester. The last category is meant to assist students with Registration fee and study facilities.

6 This is available to the first 6 students to arrive at the VUT Registration point with all the necessary documents. The students must meet all the admission requirements for the course of choice. To qualify for bursaries, all students must meet the set bursaries are available for students living with disabilities pursuing a Diploma. HeLPFULL tiPs:getting organized:You can apply to VUt online or through the mail. online applications can be processed quickly and may have built-in checks to ensure all materials are included.

7 Mailed applications are easier to proofread. either way, following this advice will set you up to eaRLY. s et deadlines for filling out forms a few weeks before they re ac-tually required. Mark these earlier deadlines on your calendar and don t miss them. the VUt website is the best place to find accurate deadline consistent. Using the exact same name on all your forms makes things easier for admission officers. Decide if you want to use a shortened version of your legal name or your middle name, and then always use the same version.

8 Switching names going from Bill to Billy, for example increases the odds that your materials will get caReFUL. careless mistakes on your application can hurt your chances of getting accepted. after you finish an application, put it aside for a day and then check it over for errors. if you can, have a teacher or parent proofread it as well. save and review online applications before you submit coPies. Make a copy of each piece of each application. save personal identification numbers, passwords, canceled checks and notes or emails from admission officers.
