Without thesededicated individuals and all theother members who serve on our various committeesCTI would cease to be the fine organization it only way any volunteer organization can be viableand growing is through the efforts of individualmembers and member companies.

3 I am a firm believer inthe individual because the individual makes thedifference in anything that happen in a comes down to one (1) individual who takesthe initiative to do something to make a difference. It isthe individual that is the key to the long running successof goal of mine is help every owner-operator tounderstand their importance as an individual. It isthe engineer, technician or operator in the fieldthat is operating and maintaining COOLING systemeveryday that has key information it takes to drivethe improvement of manufacturers and suppliersproducts and/or manufacturing process is a circle an Owner-Operator has a need.

4 A Manufacturer or Supplierprovides a product or service to fill the need. TheOwner-Operator provides feedback on how wellthe product or service filled the need and whatwould have made it better. Manufacturers andSuppliers take the feedback and improve theirproducts or needs more Owner-Operators to help theManufacturers and Suppliers improve theirproducts and services. The more individuals fromthese three groups that are participating in CTIthe better Manufacturers and Suppliers canimprove their Products and Services.

5 Owner-operator managers do not always see the benefitsof the participation of their engineers, techniciansor operators. The sharing of owner-operator needsis what drives the engine of production. Theanswer to the question What is the benefit ofattending the CTI Technical Meeting to mycompany. Attendance at CTI make it possible forthe owner-operators needs to be heard bymanufacturers and suppliers companies. Owner-Operator participation in CTI committees providefeedback to manufacturers and suppliers, so owner-operator companies get what they need to maketheir products cheaper and more efficiently becausethe COOLING systems are being maintained better andhave longer on-stream time without COOLING towersystem summer technical meeting is July 6-9 inCalifornia.

8 After spending a brief period of time working in support of the company s Vogtle Nuclear Plant inAugusta, Georgia, he transitioned to his current role in the company s Technical Services department. Duringthis time he has worked on the conceptual design, specification, bid review and evaluation, manufacturing andconstruction support, shop and field testing, inspection, and retrofitting of power plant COOLING system equipment,including steam surface condensers, air-cooled steam condensers, and wet COOLING towers.

9 In addition toexperience with the referenced equipment, he also is involved in the overall thermal cycle design and optimizationfor new generation projects across the Southern Company system, as well as major system retrofit has been involved with the COOLING TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE for close to ten years, serving as past Chairmanof the Owner/Operator Council and current Vice-Chair of the Engineering Standards and Maintenance has also been involved in other industry groups, serving on the EPRI Condenser Air In-Leakage Task Groupas well as on the ASME PTC-23 and PTC-30 test code committees.

10 He holds a in Mechanical Engineeringfrom Auburn University, a in English Literature from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is aregistered Professional Engineer in the state of lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife, Dori Lazenby, and their child, a Labrador Retriever puppynamed Geiger is a Senior consultant with GE Water and Process Technologies (GEWPT). He has over 33 yearsof water treating experience with GEWPT in the field of COOLING Water Treatment and Application. His experienceincludes 16 years in the Research and Development Department as a Senior Research Scientist in the CoolingWater Group and as a Manager of the Industrial Process Group.
