We examined whether the experience of breathing through an expiratory loading mask to recreate airflow limitation typically associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and knowledge about COPD could motivate smokers to quit tobacco use. Most subjects reported that this experience was very efficient for tobacco cessation education.
3 Seven out of eleven subjects tried to quit tobacco use, and three were successful at 4 weeks.
