SPRING NEWSLETTER April, 2012. BOARD OF DIRECTORS. Mort Westman, President Dear Brook Forest Residents : New Property Manager Judy Lucas, Treasurer I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your new Property Ray Skowron, Secretary Manager. My name is Susan Pappano and I joined Oak and Dale Properties in August of 2011 and took over the management of Brook Forest in December and Tim Soltys, Chairman Architectural have enjoyed working with your Board of Governors to continue making Brook Committee Forest a wonderful place to live. I have been managing properties for over 26.

Years and thoroughly enjoy this diversified industry. Should you have any Bob McConachie, Director questions or concerns, my contact information is located in the left margin, toward the bottom, of this Newsletter. Please feel free to contact me anytime. John Kelly, Director E-Mail Michael Martin, Director Please accept our apologies for the massive number of e-mails you recently received regarding the dogs and tennis courts. There was a glitch in the system that Michelle Quinlan, Director caused this e-mail to be sent as many as 20 times for some of you and we apologize for the inconvenience it has caused.

We believe that the glitch has been taken care of and you should no longer be receiving the e-mail. Wayne Ziemer WEBSITE Annual Meeting May 2011. MANAGEMENT The Annual Meeting will be held on May 21, 2012 at the Oak Brook Park District Oak & Dale Properties, Inc Central Park West The Shelter. We will have a speaker from Pizzo Landscaping 211 W Chicago Avenue to discuss the shoreline stabilization and Bob Sanford will be saying a few words Hinsdale, IL 60521 to update the homeowners. Amongst the election of our Board Members and other Susan Pappano important agenda items, past Board President Bob Sanford and a representative of Pizzo Landscaping will describe what has been accomplished on the shoreline restoration project.

In addition, we will discuss the pathway being considered for 630-323-8810 the right of way to the North of the shoreline and would appreciate input on this Fax 630-323-8910 proposed project. Over Tennis Courts Recently, there has been a problem with people allowing their dogs to run free and defecate in the tennis court area. Each time someone does this, a portion of your dues has to go to pay someone to clean up after these dog and more importantly, Brook Forest Residents lose the use and enjoyment of the tennis courts. While this may not seem like a lot of money, it will add up over a period of time if this practice is not stopped.

There is a fabulous public dog park located at St. Paschal Dr., Off of 83 just south of 22nd, called Mayslake Dog Park. We are unclear if this is a homeowner(s) , or someone driving into the community for the sole purpose of the use of the tennis court. If anyone knows of people using the court for these purposes, please ask them to stop, or contact Management. Spring Clean Up I hope everyone is enjoying the early spring weather. With this it brings a time of cleaning which includes properly maintaining the exterior of your homes. Please address weed issues, peeling paint, rotting wood, adjusting flower/tree bed borders (plastic or brick) , etc.

In complying with Brook Forest 's high standard of maintenance, it is the hope of the Board and Management that these items will be addressed within a reasonable amount of time. Sue Pappano has begun the spring inspection and some of you may be receiving letters notifying you of items that need addressing. If you see someone walking around your home, please step outside and introduce yourself as she would love to meet as many homeowners as possible. Homeowner Directory Update Attached to this Newsletter is a Homeowner Information Form that I would appreciate your completing and returning no later than April 30th.

We will be updating the Brook Forest Homeowner Directory, as well as our data base and this will be most helpful to have everyone's updated information. Most importantly, this information allows us to warn you of significant security and safety issues. If there is information that you do NOT want included in the directory, please mark the form accordingly. Please keep in mind that if we do not receive your form by April 30th, we will assume your information has not changed and will make no changes in the present directory. Architectural Review Objective and Mission The overall objective of this committee and the guideline document is to serve as a guide to both the members of the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) and the homeowners in maintaining and enhancing Brook Forest carefully planned environment, ensuring continuing appreciation of property values.

These guidelines and standards address improvements for which homeowners most often submit applications to the ARC. They are not intended to be all-inclusive or exclusive, but rather serve as a guide to what improvements may be made in the community of Brook Forest . The specific objectives of the guide is to: a. Provide uniform guidelines to be used by the ARC in reviewing applications. b. Assist homeowners in preparing an acceptable application to the ARC. c. Increase the homeowner's awareness and understanding of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions.

D. Describe the organization and procedures involved with the architectural standards established by the Protective Covenants amended in 1995. e. Illustrate design concepts that will aid homeowners in developing exterior improvements that are in harmony with the immediate neighborhood and the community as a whole. f. Provide for a procedure in the event of violations. g. Provide for a procedure in the event a homeowner submitting an application for approval is not willing to abide by ARC decision. Please contact Management if you would like a copy of the Architectural Guidelines or if you have related questions, particularly related to what types of projects require Committee approval.

And, please remember to submit your plans to the ARC when considering construction related projects Thanks to Bob Sanford Some of you may already know that longtime Residents Bob and Sue Sanford are in the process of leaving Brook Forest and as the result, Bob has resigned as President of your Board of Governors. Those that were lucky enough to live near them will miss Sue and Bob as neighbors but all of us will miss his guidance, vision, knowledge and dedication as President of our board. As his immediate successor I realize that, at best, I can strive to meet his standards but have no chance of filling his shoes.
