DURING MY FIRST trip to Israel I discovered how spiritually ignorant I was. I grew up in church and attended services three times a week. Adding revivals, conventions, and special events to the list of spiritual enrichment one would think I had a full understanding of the Bible that is, until 1985. That's when I. heard my Jewish tour guides explain the Bible from a Hebraic perspective, adding details I had never heard preached.

5 At the time I was twenty-six, but I had never heard one minister in my denomination speak about the seven festivals of Israel and their Prophetic fulfillments. Classified as New Testament believers while growing up, we considered the Old Testament as primarily a collection of powerful, ancient stories. The Bible itself has various layers of wisdom and understanding; this had not been taught in my denomination. There is the plain simple meaning of Scripture, and when the plain sense of the Scripture makes sense, seek no other sense! . This is the level of casual reading applying a particular passage to your situation or building faith through the promises of God. This is the main application taught from most pulpits in North America, and Christians learn at this limited level. Regrettably most believers are uninterested in digging deeper into the other spiritual and Prophetic applications.

6 This requires time, effort, and understanding Hebraic levels of hermeneutics (methods of interpreting the Scriptures). For example, there is the level of types and shadows (Col. 2:17). A type is a person, event, or thing designed to represent or picture something else. A shadow is something concealed in the story or narrative that connects the future with past events. A good example is Genesis 22, where Abraham is taking his only son with Sarah, Isaac, and offering him on a mountain (in Jerusalem) called Moriah. Abraham's binding of Isaac was a shadow of the coming redemptive process revealed in Christ. Abraham Offering Isaac as a God Offering Christ as a Sacrifice for Sacrifice Sin Abraham was the Father of Isaac. God was the Father of Christ. Isaac was the only son (Gen. 22:2, Christ was the only begotten Son (John 12).)

8 The redemption plan was revealed and understood when the set time of Christ's suffering occurred. These shadows include the rituals during Passover (Exodus 2) and the sacrifice of the red heifer (Numbers 19). Both examples hide numerous and precise details of what would occur during the crucifixion of Christ! After my initial Israel tour in the late 1980s, many more tours would follow. To the dismay of my more traditional colleagues in ministry, who felt I was slipping off a cliff to plunge into a river of heresy, I began researching and teaching the Hebraic roots of Christianity. I began adding to my Prophetic emphasis the prophecies being fulfilled inside Israel, including a unique message: The Ashes of the Red Heifer. This message taught the future rebuilding of a Jewish temple.

9 Mixing Prophetic messages with an emphasis on our Jewish roots packed out churches with curious listeners; however, it also threw the doors open to critics who distanced themselves from me as if I. had a contagious plague. They did not understand teaching on biblical types, shadows, patterns, or cycles. To prevent exposing their ignorance on the subject, they found it easier to say, Perry has gone off the deep end.. Despite the verbal attacks and slander, I continued to dig deeper. I discovered the Bible is a divinely layered book; too often it is read and not studied. It is viewed as a storybook a nice story here, an interesting narrative there. However, the words of the Bible are more than ancient stories; they are divinely inspired writings that can have many practical applications.

10 You will discover that some conceal Prophetic codes events from the past whose details will repeat at some point in the future. To tap into these hidden truths requires knowledge of the Bible in its entirety, historical context and details of parallel events, and an understanding of biblical prophecies. It demands insight to prophecy predicting the signs and circumstances prior to the return of Christ. One of my most amazing discoveries is how God moves world events in a circular motion. These events are repeated sometimes hundreds or thousands of years apart, yet using parallel dates, the same names often mirror the same type of event or place. It is God Himself who said: Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.
