1 DIVISION 1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS SECTION 01 10 00 SUMMARY OF PROJECT SECTION 01 10 00 - SUMMARY OF PROJECT PART 1 - GENERAL DESCRIPTION A. The project is located in Benezette Township, Elk County, Pennsylvania. B. The exact location of the project is as indicated in the location map contained in the Contract Drawings. WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. Without intending to limit or restrict the extent of work required under this contract, the work generally consists of the following: 1.

2 The Work for this project includes, but is not limited to, clearing and grubbing, bulk excavation/earthwork, construction of new Township Roadway, construction of aggregate parking lot, installation of stormwater management improvements, installation of aggregate walkways and viewings areas and other minor site improvements as indicated in the Drawings. See Alternates Section for description of Alternate bid work. 2. All labor, materials, tools and equipment, transportation, fuel, power, supplies and services necessary to complete the work as herein specified.

Unless otherwise specified, all work shall be performed in accordance with generally accepted standards of construction methods and within the guidelines established by these specifications and the Contract Drawings. PUBLIC RELATIONS A. Contractor's attention is directed to the fact that, in the eyes of the GENERAL public, his conduct and attitude will be closely associated with that of the Owner. Accordingly, where operations of the Contractor require personal contact with the public, the Contractor and all his employees shall conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner.

4 Any violation of this section shall be considered sufficient cause for the Owner to order discharge of the employee involved, and he shall not be employed again on the work without written permission from the Owner. B. Contractor will be responsible to coordinate and inform Owner and Township of roadway and parking lot shut downs. C. Contractor shall use all means necessary to control dust on and near the work, including off-site borrow and stockpile areas if such dust is caused by the Contractor s operations.

5 Thoroughly moisten all surfaces as required to prevent dust from being a nuisance to the public, neighbors, and concurrent performance of other work on the site. D. In carrying out the work, the Contractor shall interfere as little as possible with vehicles, pedestrians and wildlife. Contractor shall provide and maintain ingress and egress for all residents and visitors adjacent to construction area. E. Contractor shall provide for emergency vehicle access at all times.

6 F. Contractor shall be responsible for notifying all local emergency services, school districts, and other public agencies with regard to control and maintenance of traffic in the work area. G. The Contractor shall obey and follow all posted speed limits. Standards and other publications referenced to these Specifications shall be of the issues in effect at the time of the bidding and shall form a part of this Contract.

7 B. References are made to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation specifications. Unless otherwise noted, the State specifications referred to are the Publication 408 Specifications, latest revision. Reference in the State specifications to State , Chief Engineer , or Department shall be interpreted as the Design Professional as herein defined. When particular articles or sections are referred to, all paragraphs other than those relating to payment shall apply. Payment shall be as defined in these specifications.

8 CONTRACTOR'S USE OF PREMISES A. Confine construction equipment, the storage of materials and equipment, and operations of workmen to within Owner s property and the limits of disturbance. B. Assume full responsibility for materials stored on site including materials for which the Owner has made payment. C. Transport materials remaining at the completion of the project for which the Owner has made payment to a storage area designated by the Owner. CLEANING UP A. Continuously keep storage areas, pavements and adjacent properties free from accumulations of waste materials, excess excavation, rubbish and windblown debris resulting from construction operations.

9 B. Broom or water clean paved surfaces and remove surplus materials, tools, construction equipment and machinery as each work area is completed. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS A. Notify PA One Call System, Tel. No. 1-800-242-1776, at least 3 days prior to any excavation in order that all utility locations may be marked. B. Contractor shall make every effort to protect and avoid damage within the work area. Prior to the commencement of construction on any private right-of-way, the Contractor, Owner, and Engineer s representatives will meet to identify special needs and desires.

10 C. Contractor s attention is called to the fact that the construction involved in this project is being conducted in areas confined by pavements, curbing and sidewalks. The Contractor shall use care in completing exploratory digging and verifying installation limits. Contactor shall take care not to damage improvements to remain and shall be responsible to repair damage at no additional cost to the Owner.
