NRS & NAC A Nevada resident who owns a passenger car or light duty, non-commercial vehicle (having a manufacturer's rated carrying capacity of 1 ton or less), manufactured at least 25 years prior to the date of application, may apply for classic Vehicle license plates. The initial fee for a classic Vehicle license plate is $ , plus a 50-cent per plate Prison Industry Fee. The Department will collect a one-time fee of $ to be deposited into the pollution control account for those motor vehicles exempted from emission testing. These fees are in addition to all other registration fees.

2 The renewal fee for a classic Vehicle license plate is $ in addition to all other applicable registration fees. If your vehicle is currently registered, you have the option to maintain your current vehicle expiration date or renewing for a full twelve (12) month period. Credit for the unused portion of your current registration will be applied. You must surrender your current license plates to the Department to transfer this credit. Vehicle owners with a classic Vehicle must provide proof that the vehicle is covered by Nevada liability insurance which is specifically designated for classic or antique vehicles. Customer must provide the declaration page from the insurer for first time registration and/or renewal. Liability insurance must be continuously maintained in your name, for the entire time the vehicle is registered or should be registered in Nevada .

3 In accordance with NAC , if a classic Vehicle has been certified, upon each annual registration, to have not been driven more than 5,000 miles since the preceding annual registration, the classic Vehicle may be certified as exempt from compliance with emission standards (with required submittal of form EC-18 at initial registration and annual renewal.). If the vehicle is driven more than 5,000 miles, a passing emissions test is required at the time of the renewal and the vehicle cannot be re-registered as a classic Vehicle. Please Note: A classic Vehicle must contain only the original parts that were used to manufacture the vehicle or replacement parts that duplicate those original parts. First time application for this plate type must be done in person at a full-service DMV Office.
