First and foremost, Chapter 302 hosted another spectacular Young Eagles event at KCXO.

7 Down south at Ellington field (KEFD) the Wings Over Houston airshow was on and up north at Reklaw (Walker spelled backwards) the annual big fly-in took place at the Flying M Ranch (7TA7). This year had a record attendance with close to 400 aircraft showing up. Member Joe Waltz took his RV-8 up to the Flying M on Friday morning at the break of dawn. If you want a good campsite you gotta get there early. Lucky for him the Shannon brothers had staked out a great campsite on Thursday and had breakfast grilling up when he arrived to a dew moistened grass runway. The early arrival proved helpful as hundreds of aircraft flew in all day long.

8 Friday and Saturday were spent visiting old friends, walking the flight line to examine all the aircraft, watching day-long landings, takeoffs and fly-bys and eating the great camp food. Joe says that it was an even mix of Experimental and factory built aircraft. If you haven't been able to make it up to Reklaw then do yourself a favor and fly or drive up next October and join the fun. Plan a day trip or stay overnight. Unlimited camping (tent, trailer or motor home) is available and some attendees stay in hotels in nearby cities like Jacksonville. Just like EAA, it's the people that make events like this so much fun to attend.
