Elev-enth EDITION reflects ongoing changes in healthcare and the medical transport profession. Commitment to patient care and safety of the transport environment form the foundation of these voluntary STANDARDS . This EDITION has been vetted by the medical transport profession through the American National STANDARDS Insti-tute (ANSI) STANDARDS -setting process in subsequent drafts over the past two years. Since the Tenth EDITION was published in October 2015, CAMTS registered a separate but related non-profit corporation in Zurich, Switzerland. CAMTS EU was created to address the specific differences of services beyond the North American continent. CAMTS EU provides availability and focuses on international policies and practices. This organization was created to serve European and international medical transport providers, recognizing not only cultural differences but government restrictions and laws of other countries while main-taining the integrity of the ACCREDITATION process worldwide.

CAMTS EU has a Board of Directors representing organizations with international membership. The CAMTS EU STANDARDS were published in 2017 and CAMTS EU ACCREDITATION was activated and available. Medical transport services that conduct long-range transports in the and around the world also have the opportunity to apply for a dual CAMTS CAMTS EU accred-itation. Please see the website for the CAMTS EU First EDITION ACCREDITATION STANDARDS , policies and additional information. In June and July 2018, the CAMTS and CAMTS EU Board of Directors developed and approved ACCREDITATION STANDARDS for Special Operations Medical Retrieval. ACCREDITATION is now available measuring compliance with these STANDARDS for services that provide tactical rescue or SWAT call-outs and citizen recovery from potentially unstable environments.

These STANDARDS are available as a free download from both and websites. The Commission recognizes and accepts its responsibility to review and evaluate the relevance and applica-bility of its STANDARDS , and that is why specific STANDARDS were developed for services beyond North America and special operations as described above. ACCREDITATION STANDARDS serve as the resource for site survey visits and as criteria for ACCREDITATION decisions by the Commission. ACCREDITATION STANDARDS are also used as a blueprint for organizational planning and benchmarks for medical transport on a worldwide basis. These STANDARDS are written by and for those involved in medical transport, and therefore, these STANDARDS belong to the entire medical transport community. As STANDARDS are dynamic and not static, CAMTS values its constitu-ents comments and suggestions for future Commission on ACCREDITATION of Medical Transport Systems is proud to be an Accredited American Na-tional STANDARDS Institute (ANSI) Accredited STANDARDS Developer (ASD) since 2017.

CAMTS is one of less than 250 ANSI Accredited STANDARDS Developers which includes organizations such as the American Dental Association (ADA), Underwriter Laboratories (UL) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The CAMTS 11th EDITION STANDARDS have been updated using the ANSI Essential Requirements: Due pro-cess requirements for American National STANDARDS . We want to thank all those that submitted comments and we especially want to thank those on the CAMTS STANDARDS /Consensus Committee that worked on this 11th EDITION of the CAMTS ACCREDITATION American National STANDARDS Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization that administers and coordinates the United States voluntary STANDARDS and conformity assessment system. Founded in 1918, the Institute works in close collaboration with stakeholders from industry and government to identify and develop STANDARDS and conformance-based solutions to national and global priorities.

The hallmarks of the ANSI pro-cess ensure the development of STANDARDS are done in a manner that is equitable, accessible and responsive: Participation is open to all interested stakeholders Balance of interests is sought Consensus is reached, without dominance by any party The STANDARDS are open for public review and comment All comments receive a written response All attempts are made to resolve objections before a consensus vote There is an appeals process to address procedural concerns The 11th EDITION of the CAMTS ACCREDITATION STANDARDS are for CAMTS ACCREDITATION only and follow the ANSI Essential Elements process. They are not approved as ANSI STANDARDS at this FOR ACCREDITATIONMEMBERMEMBER ORGANIZATIONS AND BOARD REPRESENTATIVESA erospace Medical Association (AsMA)David Alexander, MD, City, TXAir Medical Operators Association (AMOA)Kim MontgomeryDallas, TXAir Medical Physicians Association (AMPA)Mike Brunko, MD, FACEPE vergreen, COAir & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA)Patricia Corbett, RN, BSN, CPHRM, CMTED enver, COAmerican Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)Richard Orr, MD, FAAP (Vice-Chair)Pittsburgh, PAAmerican Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)Tobin Miller, RN, Diego, CAAmerican Association of Respiratory Care (AARC)Steve Sittig, RRT (Secretary)Rochester, MNAmerican College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)Francis Guyette, MD, FACEPP ittsburgh, PAAmerican College of Surgeons (ACS)
