Handle yourreplacement Water pump with care. If the unit is dropped, the internal ceramic seal may crack. NEVER STRIKE THESHAFT, as this can damage the shaft or bearings. Always check the fan, pulleys, belts, and fan clutch. CAUTION: FORYOUR PROTECTION, CLOSE HOOD WHEN REVVING INSTRUCTIONSA lways drain and flush cooling system if it showssigns of corrosion. Dirt particles in the coolant cancause seal failure. Clean the Water pump impellercavity and gasket surface. Also, check the radiatorcap, thermostat, and the fan belt for wear orimproper function.
9 Replace if Carefully install the replacement Water STRIKE THE SHAFT. Tighten all bolts ina staggered Turn pump shaft by hand to check for freerotation. If the shaft does not turn freely thenrecheck your Check fan belt tension. Belt should deflect 1/2" to3/4". If the belt is too tight the pump will Reconnect hoses and refill cooling system. Besure there are no Check the fan blade for bent blades, loose rivets,or any other damage. NEVER STRAIGHTEN ABENT BLADE. Replace the entire fan whendefects are Check the fan clutch (if installed) for loss of oil,looseness or wobble. If there is more than 1/4" ofplay at the blade edges the bearing is bad and thefan clutch needs to be replaced. A bad ormisaligned clutch will damage a Water Check fan clearances at blade tip between fanand shroud, and between fan and Check motor mounts for wear or splitting.
10 Checkbolt Start the engine and run until normal operatingtemperature is reached. Check for leaks andunusual vibration. NEVER STAND IN LINE WITHOR NEAR FAN WHEN REVVING THE HOOD SHOULD BE CLOSED WHENREVVING THE IMPORTANT!Leaks, loose fan belts or defective fan clutches causecooling system problems more often than defective waterpumps. Water pump failure can be caused by defective,crooked, or unbalanced fans; defective or unbalanced fanclutches; excessive (too tight) fan belt tension; dirtycooling systems; insufficient clearance between the fanand the shroud or radiator; loose or broken motor FUTURE PROBLEMS CAN BE AVOIDED IFEVERYTHING IS CHECKED OUT WHEN THE WATERPUMP IS TO REMEMBERH andle the replacement Water pump with care. Always use a new gasket. All Pumps are greased at the factory do not addgrease.
