The most well-known New Hampshire gold deposits were described by C.H. Hitchcock in 1878, published as the “Hitchock Atlas of New Hampshire Geology.” He identified the Ammonoosuc Gold District centered on Lyman, Monroe and Bath, including southwestern Littleton, northwestern Landaff and western Lisbon.
