1 Grants Administrator As part of an institutional effort to centralize, coordinate, and enhance grant activity, Birmingham-Southern College is searching for a Grants Administrator to develop and manage a newly created office of Grants and sponsored programs within the Office of the Provost. The Grants Administrator will be responsible for working with faculty and staff to manage pre- and certain post-award processes. In addition, the Grants Officer will collaborate with Academic Affairs and other College divisions to develop policies and procedures that encourage and support grant activity at BSC. Representative Activities Pre-Award Assist investigators in identifying potential funding sources Support professional development of faculty and staff with respect to grant preparation Work with Principal Investigators to coordinate all aspects of Grants submission (including use of agency web portals such as , Fastlane, NSpires, SAM, and eRA Commons) Prepare budgets and budget justification.

2 Develop non-content-specific components of narratives and work plans Ensure proposal compliance with College and grantor policies and procedures Ensure that grant submission, implementation, and reporting comply with all policies of the College, granting institutions, and subcontracting agencies, if any Serve as liaison to federal and non-federal grantor agencies Assist in interaction with program officers and funding agency representatives Coordinate and collaborate with offices on campus, such as the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, to ensure that academic and institutional priorities are supported Coordinate, as required, with the BSC human subjects research application process Post-Award Open and close sponsored accounts in collaboration with the Finance Office Communicate institutional and sponsor policies and procedures as appropriate to ensure compliance and proactively keep departments and individuals apprised of changes in policies and regulations of federal and non-federal grantor agencies.

3 Work with offices on campus to achieve compliance Monitor Grants and funds; advise accounting and reporting issues as necessary; work with Principal Investigators and the Finance Office to prepare budget-versus-actual status reports Manage personnel expenses, travel, memberships, equipment, technology, and other grant-funded items Initiate and process reimbursements, purchase requisitions, cost transfers, and check requests associated with Grants and contracts. Review appropriateness of transactions and budget reallocations against funding source guidelines; work with the Finance Office to resolve complex accounting issues.

4 Maintain timely coordination and communication with involved offices and individuals regarding Grants management issues Monitor non-financial compliance and effort reporting Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree and at least three (3) years full time experience working in the field of Grants administration and research management Grant proposal submission, budget management, and data reporting experience with federal, state, and non-profit organizations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Preferred Qualifications Master s degree Additional two (2) years of full time experience in Grants administration CRA (Certified Research Administrator ) and/or CPRA (Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator ) designations Birmingham-Southern College is a selective liberal arts college consistently recognized for its academic quality.
