A cast iron guarantee Hargreaves FoundryHalifaxcast iron soil and drain systemC1/SfB ( ) Ih2 January 2008It is also able to withstand the rigours of on site handling, mechanical de-blocking and vandalism. It provides designcapabilities that will meet the needs of restoration, refurbishment and conservation work equally as well asnew, bespoke and unique designs. Cast iron is 100%recyclable and can be returned to the Foundry for combination of these benefits and features is amatchless product that delivers lifetime solutions todrainage needs. The benefits of specifying Hargreavesproducts are the ease of availability throughout the UK andIreland, excellent service and a wealth of experience thatcan be called upon for advice and information about yourparticular Halifax SystemThe Halifax system is a comprehensive range of socketlesscast iron soil and drain pipes and fittings, designed specificallyfor internal soil and rainwater waste disposal, both above andbelow ground.
It is particularly suitable for the new build orrefurbishment of apartment blocks, multi storey offices, hotels, hospitals, schools, prisons, car parks provides all the benefits of conventional cast iron but alsooffers significant labour savings due to efficient, socketlessjointing techniques. It employs a mechanical jointing systemusing simple, efficient and reliable couplings. It can be fittedboth horizontally and vertically. The Halifax system isfinished in a two part epoxy coating, red/brown for aboveground and grey for below FoundryHargreaves Foundry has built its business on thebasis of friendly, flexible and prompt service. Wedistribute exclusively through merchants tocustomers throughout the UK, Ireland and theChannel Isles and also into Europe, Russia, theMiddle East and have invested heavily in warehousing and stock so that we can deliver completeorders on time and within deadlines agreed by customers.
Hargreaves Foundry UK operations and production are all on one site. This includes thesales office, pattern making and Foundry , warehouse, fabrication and paint shop. Oneperson will manage your order throughout each stage of the process, ensuring qualitystandards and delivery deadlines are met in full. This individual will be accountable to addition to this we have technical sales staff who can provide advice, information andquotes, who will be happy to visit office or site, are familiar with the needs of bothspecifiers and contractors and have experience working in partnership as part of aproject contact us if you require any further information. All telephone calls are answeredpromptly by an individual, not a robot, (between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday toFriday). 5 Systems as it offers manybenefits, both for above and belowground installation, which include:Strength and durability- cast iron is able to withstand therigours of on site handling, mechanical de-blocking andvandalism and requires less embedment than other materialsfor below ground life- when correctly installed cast iron drainage systemswill last the life of the building, whether domestic, public, industrial or maintenance- cast iron requires little ongoingmaintenance, annual inspections are recommended butremedial action is rarely in addition to lasting the life of a building andrequiring minimal maintenance, cast iron is also 100%recyclable and can therefore be used again after the buildinghas for money- owing to its longevity, durability and lowmaintenance, coupled with its fire resistance and low noiseoperation, the cost benefits of cast iron are resistance and safety- the melting point of cast iron isconsiderably higher than PVCu or PE and in the event of firewill not emit toxic fumes or drop burning globules of materialfrom one compartment to another.
Quality assurance and approvalsHalifax soil system for above ground use has been tested andapproved by the British Board of Agr Certificate No. 06/4401 details pipes and fittings. MaxCouplings have approval by the BBA Certificate No. 01 standardsBS EN 877:1999 - European Standard for cast iron covers above ground soil, waste, rainwater and burieddrainage systems and performance requirements in the variousapplicationsISO 6594 - International Standard for socketless drainagesystems in cast ironBS EN 681 / ISO 4633 - Specification for elastomeric seals forjoints in pipework and of practiceBS EN 12056 - Code of practice for gravity drainage systemsinside buildings - sanitary pipework and drainage of EN 752-1 - Code of practice for drain and sewer systemsoutside and fittings are manufactured in grey cast iron whichexceeds the requirements of BS EN 1561 Grade EN-JL 1020,ISO 185 Grade ductile cast iron couplings are manufactured inaccordance with BS EN 1563.
ISO 1083 with minimum tensilestrength of 420N/mm2 The Max and Connect couplings are manufactured in stabilizedchrome steel couplings are supplied with EPDM rubber sealing ringswhich are suitable for most applications but where aggressivewaste liquids are to be discharged please check with ourtechnical department as to their suitability. Nitrile rubber will beconsidered upon requestabove groundHalifaxComprehensive rangeCouplingsLightweightValue for moneyLow maintenanceLow noise operationFire resistance and safetyImproved pipe coating100% recyclable and sustainableproduct benefits and advantages of the Halifax system6 Low maintenanceThe combination of great strength andimproved surface coatings on the Halifax Soiland Drain System delivers a fit and forgetsolution in most installations. This is especiallyimportant when pipework is concealed andinaccessible and where maintenance would bedisruptive to occupants of the noise operationA factor often overlooked is the excessivenoise created by waste water running throughpipework manufactured from materials with amuch lower density than cast iron.
Whilstnever welcome, this is especially inappropriatefor hospitals, hotels, office and resistance and safetyThe Halifax system can withstand highertemperatures than PVC or HDPE and in theevent of fire will not drop burning globulesfrom one compartment to another. Buildingregulations therefore require intumescent firecollars to be fitted to PVCu pipework - castiron has no such pipe coatingThe Halifax system pipes are lined internallywith a two part epoxy finish which providesimproved performance when exposed toaggressive substances. Fittings are also epoxycoated and provide a similar level recyclable andsustainableCast iron will not only last the life of thebuilding but is strong enough to withstand onsite handling, mechanical deblocking andvandalism. It also reduces the use of naturalresources by utilising almost 100% scrap andrecycled metal in the manufacturing when a building reaches the end of itslifespan, all the cast iron can be recycled tomake new rangeThe Halifax system complies with British and EuropeanStandard BS EN 877 and provides a complete system ofpipes and fittings for the conveyance of waste water andrainwater through a building and as far as the Max and Connect couplings share a similar single screwdesign for above ground applications.
Both couplings providethe quickest jointing method available on the market todayfor BS EN 877 above ground systems. Also for installationsrequiring cast iron couplings to match the pipework, theHalifax ductile cast iron coupling is to traditional rainwater and soil products (BS460and BS416) the Halifax system is lighter and easier tohandle but still retains all the inherent qualities of cast ironincluding strength and for moneyThe Halifax system compares favourably with other materials, including PVC-u solvent weld systems, on labour rates. It canalso provide cost savings when intumescent fire collars, soundinsulation, expansion joints and extra brackets are requiredfor PVC to satisfy the building requirements. Also, in normalcircumstances, cast iron will last the life of the : : 01422 330607 Fax: 01422 320349 Features for Max coupling (50-150mm) and Connect coupling(200-300mm) Manufactured from stabilized chrome steel Thickness of chrome steel MAX 50mm - 150mm: M8 x 55 socket cap screw and 2 M8 nuts(6mm allen drive) Connect 200mm - 300mm.
