When elements characteristics are independent of direction of current thenelement is calledbi-directionalelement otherwiseit is called : R, L & C. Diode is a unidirectional element. Voltage and current sources are alsounidirectionalelements. Every linear element should obey thebi-directionalproperty but vice versaasisnot necessary.
