Description: Hempel 'S GALVOCOAT 16380 is a cold-galvanizing paint, based on a physically drying binder with a high content of metallic zinc pigment, offering cathodic protection to steel substrates. Recommended use: 1. As a protective primer in mild to moderately corrosive environments. 2. For repair of GALVOSIL and other zinc rich coatings. 3. For repair of galvanized steel. Availability: Not included in Group Assortment. Local availability subject to confirmation. PHYSICAL CONSTANTS: Colours/Shade nos: Metal-grey/19840. Finish: Flat Volume solids, %: 56 1. Theoretical spreading rate: m /litre - 75 micron 299 gallon - mils Flash point: 28 C/82 F. Specific gravity: kg/litre - lbs/US gallon Dry to touch: 30 (approx.) minutes at 20 C/68 F. The physical constants stated are nominal data according to the Hempel Group's approved formulas. They are subject to normal manufacturing tolerances and where stated, being standard deviation according to ISO 3534-1.

Nozzle pressure: 150 bar/2175 psi (Airless spray data are indicative and subject to adjustment). Cleaning of tools: THINNER 08080. Indicated film thickness, dry: 75 mils (See REMARKS overleaf). Indicated film thickness, wet: 150 mils Recoat interval, min: When dry Recoat interval, max: None (See REMARKS overleaf). Safety: Handle with care. 3 SURFACE New steel: Abrasive blasting to minimum Sa 2 (ISO 8501-1:1988). Repair and maintenance of galvanized steel or zinc-rich coatings: Remove oil and grease, etc. with a suitable detergent. Remove salt and other contaminants by means of (high pressure) fresh water cleaning. Remove all rust and loose material by abrasive blasting or power tool cleaning. Feather edges to sound and intact areas. Dust off residues. Touch up to full film thickness. APPLICATION As dictated by normal good painting practice. CONDITIONS: In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. PRECEDING None. COAT: SUBSEQUENT None, or according to specification. COAT: REMARKS: Recoating: In principle, no maximum recoating interval applies, but this is depending on the condition of the surface, which must be completely clean and dry before recoating. If the formation of zinc salts ( white rust ) occurs, clean the surface by means of high pressure fresh water hosing and stiff (nylon) brushes.
