It is designed ac-cording to Sulzer the nuts to the Casing Split flangeare removed, the upper half of thecasing can be lifted off. The rotorconsisting of impeller, shaft and shaftseals can be checked and lifted outwithout disturbing the piping connec-tions or pump alignment. The pumpcan be driven from both Design is selected for higherhead applications. A single suctionimpeller is installed on each side ofthe double suction impeller. The flowis guided in the diffusers from the firststage to the second two suction branches are integralto the lower half of the pump casingand are connected by means ofbreeches pipe.
4 The suction branchescan be arranged either horizontally(inline with the discharge) or Casing is horizontally Split and ofthe double Volute type minimizing theradial forces acting on the shaft. Thesuction and discharge branches areinline, horizontal, located on oppositeside, cast integrally with the lowerhalf. Both Casing halves are boltedtogether and sealed with a double suction impeller is of theclosed type. 5 The mechani-cal seal is generally of the cartridgetype. It can be removed and replacedas a single unit. The fluid properties,the shaft peripheral speed and thesuction pressure limit the use of pack-ing and lubricationForced feed or self-lubricated hydro-dynamic bearings are available.
