This means you will need to apply a lot of self-discipline. You will need to be self-directed and responsible. However, you will gain a lot from the experience! The ability to study in a disciplined way is an IMPORTANT life skill because it will also help you to succeed in other areas of life, especially in your career. We want you to succeed, so we will help you all the way with your studies. Remember you are not alone. You can contact the College whenever you have queries or need a little motivation. Good luck! _____ Engineering Studies N1 N3 IMPORTANT Exam INFORMATION / ICG / Page 1 NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IMPORTANT EXAM INFORMATION READ THE FOLLOWING PAGES VERY CAREFULLY.
MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND ALL PROCEDURES WITH REGARDS TO THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATE EXAM. Term mark Why do I need a term mark? In order to qualify for the National Certificate Examination, you have to have a term mark. You will not receive a final exam mark without your term mark! How do I get a term mark? In order to get a term mark, you have to submit at least three assignments/test papers to the College for marking. The marks for these three assignments/test papers are used to generate your term mark. The three assignments/test papers have to reach us before the College 's assignment submission closing date. The closing dates for 2014 assignments are 24 January, 26 May and 31 August.
This will allow us enough time to grade your assignments/test papers and submit your term mark to the Department of Higher Education and Training. After the term mark closing date we can no longer submit your term mark for the forthcoming examination sitting. Notification of National Certificate exam registration Please complete the Notification of National Certificate Exam Registration Form at the back of this booklet and return it to the College as soon as you have registered with an exam venue. This way you can ensure that the Department of Higher Education and Training will receive your term mark. Exam registration National Examinations are administered by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
The exam registration closing dates for 2014 are 12 February, 1 June and 25 September. Please note that late entries will not be accepted. It is your responsibility to register at your nearest exam centre for the public examinations. _____ Engineering Studies N1 N3 IMPORTANT Exam INFORMATION / ICG / Page 2 Exam Registration Fees Fees paid to Intec College are for tuition only.
In addition to these tuition fees, it is necessary for you to pay examination fees directly to the Further Education and Training College where you will be registering. The cost of exam registration is determined by the relevant Further Education and Training College . Exam entry form You will receive an Examination Entry Form at the exam centre where you will write your exam. The Department of Higher Education and Training uses this entry form to identify you, the College and the subjects you have registered for. When completing this entry form, you should note the following: Write your Intec student number next to your surname (for example, Smith Intec Student No.)
100100000). In Section A, use the Exam Centre Number 1199995007, to identify you as an Intec College learner. In Section C on the Instructions page, Intec College is identified as number 7 (seven). It is IMPORTANT to fill this in under column 1, next to the subject code on the exam form, so that the Department of Higher Education and Training can identify you as an Intec student and not as a student of another correspondence College . We have included an example of a completed Examination Entry Form in this booklet. To ensure that you receive your results quickly, you should read through the completed form carefully, and fill yours in correctly when the time comes.
REMEMBER In Section C on your exam registration form, you should fill in the number 7 (seven). This number indicates that you are an Intec student. Without this correct number, you will not be able to get your final mark. Prepare for the exam Before you attempt the exam, make sure that you are fully prepared. We recommend that you complete all your self-assessment questions and assignments/test papers. This forms an integral part of your studies. To ensure that you are well prepared for the examinations, you should have achieved at least a 50% pass mark for the assignments/test papers in each subject. Your study material will include an exam pack with past exam papers.
Prepare yourself by working through these exam papers. If you struggle with a specific question, contact your tutor. Your tutor is there to support you. NB: Only original assignments will be accepted. No fax or email copies will be accepted. _____ Engineering Studies N1 N3 IMPORTANT Exam INFORMATION / ICG / Page 3 EXAM DATES AND ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION CLOSING DATES 2014 Closing dates for registration for National Certificate Exams 2014 are as follows: 12 February, 1 June and 25 September.
