All information related toadmission procedures is available on this website. An applicant must have completed results at the 10+2 level at the time of application . Incomplete and/or incorrect application shall be liable to be cancelled. For a candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of admissionsthat the marks he/she had stated at the time of application is more than what he/she hasactually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her merit position shall be revisedaccordingly and he/she may be denied admission. Following eligibility and selection procedures are applicable only for students who havecompleted school (10+2) in India.

2 Foreign students or others who have completed schools(10+2) outside India must check Foreign Students Admission for application procedure,eligibility and other criteria. CBCS as per UGC guideline will be implemented in (Hons.) courses from theacademic session 2017- 2018. Maximum tenure of studentship for the admitted candidates will be as per the UGCcircular no- (CPP-II).Eligibility Criteria For (Honours) CoursesFor PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & GEOLOGICAL SCIENCESC andidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and securingat least 75% marks in average obtained in Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics are eligible. In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marksis in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects.

3 The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.For MATHEMATICSC andidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and best of any two subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics & Geography and securing at least 75% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible. In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marksis in average obtained in the above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.For GEOGRAPHYC andidates having passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized Board in Science with Mathematics and any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Geology & Economics, securing at least 70% marks in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) subjects are eligible.

4 In case of OBC-A/OBC-B category, minimum requirement of marks is 63% in average obtained in above mentioned three(3) case of SC/ST/PD/Sports category, minimum requirement of marksis in average obtained in in above mentioned three(3) subjects. The minimum disability in case of the PD candidates is 40%.**NOTE: A student who has obtained the Bachelor Degree from a recognized University is not eligible for admission to the Bachelor Degree course of this CATEGORYAs per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC & BCD-1, ( ) and letter from the Government of West Bengal, ScheduledCastes/ Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reservedquota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Candidates provisionally selected under this category will have to submit the SC/ST certificate in theirname at the time of admission, otherwise his/her admission may be CATEGORYThe candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories mustproduce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June2017) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) theybelong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/admission.

5 If any candidate could not produce the non-creamy layer certificate at the time of admission, aten (10) days time at the most will be given to the candidate to produce the same. otherwisehis/her admission may be and OBC-B candidates from the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to getthe benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students mayget the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in WestBengal. *FOR SPORTS CATEGORYIn addition to the above mentioned academic eligibility, the following eligibility conditions under Sports Quota shall apply:Candidate should have represented a state or equivalent in any National Championship (Junior/Senior/ Federation Cup) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Associationrecognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic AssociationORCandidate should have represented state in National School Competition conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI)ORCandidate having position 1st/2nd/3rd for individual event/sports or member of Champion / Runnersup team for team event/sports/games in Inter-Dist / State Championship (open)

7 Applicant must submit the certificates in prescribed format along with aprint out of online payment receipt, print out of online application and all Sports Certificate tothe Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, Science Building,Ground Floor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before June 29, 2018 (11 am - 5 pm).Participants in Tournaments/Events organized or certified by bodies other than thosementioned above are not eligible.** FOR PD CATEGORY Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quotaunder PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. Candidates applied under this category must submit an attested photocopy ofcertificate of disability issued by the relevant authority either in person (or by post) along witha photocopy of online payment receipt within June 29, 2018 (5pm) in the Office of the Deanand Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, Ground Floor, UG Science Building, JadavpurUniversity, Kolkata Ragging.

8 Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the Universityshall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediatelyreport to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or onUniversity any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall begiven liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority wouldexpel him/her from the University.
