1 Information Technology code of Ethics The Information Technology code of Ethics contained herein shall be considered to be principles of Ethics to guide the professional and ethical behavior of College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University Information Technology professionals related to the permissions and abilities granted to them in their job related responsibilities to maintain the College of Liberal Arts related networks and Information systems. Please read the following statements and sign in designated area below to indicate you have read, understand, and will follow this code of Ethics . As an Information Technology employee of the College of Liberal arts, Auburn University, I affirm that: I will not knowingly violate University or departmental policy, state or federal law governing Information privacy. I will not access confidential or proprietary Information or data on Auburn University computer systems, or in any other manner, except when it is in keeping with my assigned duties as an employee.
2 I will appropriately maintain and protect the confidentiality of any Information or data to which I may have access, regardless of the method used to retrieve or display it. I will not make any unauthorized alterations (add/change/delete) to any Information or data to which I may have access. I will work to prevent the download, distribution, and installation of pirated software. I will also work to prevent the installation of software without a valid license or the installation of a single user license on multiple machines. I will not remotely or physically login to another user's machine or attempt to access another user's files without the individual's permission, except when necessary in the course of performing my assigned duties as an employee. I will not try to compromise the security of the Auburn University network or devices attached to the network, except when it is necessary in the course of my assigned duties as an employee. I understand any violation of this affirmation could result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Auburn University Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
