The valves arenon-directional and can be installed with eitherend upstream.
These valves are designed andmanufactured in strict accordance with API end valves NPS 2 to 24" (except 22")have flange dimensions in accordance withASME/ANSI Size 22" and sizes 26" andlarger have flange dimensions conforming toMSS SP-44, or the customers and end-to-end dimensions conformto API Series 5700/6700 ball valves are APImonogrammed under authorization of API licenseNumber BLOCK & BLEEDPBV-USA valves 5700/6700 series are designedfor double block & bleed service.
Each valve isequipped with a drain valve in the lower portion ofthe body. Valves 6 and larger also include a ventin the upper quadrant of the SEALANT SYSTEMAll Series 5700/6700 valves have fittings at thestem which can be used to inject a sealant in theunlikely event of leakage in the stem area. ValvesNPS 6 and larger have provisions for emergencysealant injection in the seating areas through 1/2 NPT giant buttonhead fittings at the midpoint ofthe end closuresEach injection port has an internal check valveinstalled as an added safety precaution.
ValvesNPS 6 through 12 have two emergency sealantfittings on the front of the valve; Valves 14 andlarger have four fittings, two in front and two WELDABILITYWELDING END VALVESPBV-USA series 5700/6700 ball valves withASME welding end connection(s) arereadily field weld-able. installation welding shouldbe done by qualified personnel using approvedwelding procedures in accordance withapplicable codes and jurisdictional welding end surfaces for cleanliness. Thewelding ends should be free from paint, oil or rustwhich may be detrimental to VALVESIM0 69 April 2001 Rev 92 WARNING: AT ALL TIMES KEEP HANDS OUT OFTHE BALL CAVITY.
A REMOTELY ACTUATEDVALVE COULD CLOSE AT ANY TIME ANDRESULT IN SERIOUS PRESSURE RELIEFIn PBV-USA 5700/6700 series, independentspring loaded seat design eliminates excesspressure build-up in the body cavity by automaticpressure release through the downstream NPT body relief valve may be furnished as anoption to further protect the body from thermalover-pressuring when the valve is in the fullyclosed position. A relief valve is recommendedwhen the line pressure is expected to be veryclose to the valve maximum rated a relief valve is installed, an appropriate reliefdrain system should be considered for safety andenvironmental in storage, protect valves from the effects ofweather.
Ideally, valves should be kept indoors ina clean, well ventilated area with the temperaturemaintained above the dew point. If valves arestored outdoors, support them off the ground orpavement and provide a watertight are shipped in the open position to protectthe ball surface. End protectors are placed on thevalve for protection from damage anddeterioration and to prevent entrance of dirt ordebris. Do not remove the end protectors exceptfor inspection or equipment is required for the weightinvolved.
Refer to the PBV-USA catalog forapproximate weights. Take care to avoiddamage to the valves while handling. Sling or rigthe valve carefully. The end flange may be usedto lift smaller valves. Larger valves are providedwith lifting lugs to facilitate the valve is correct as shown on the pipingarrangement. Look at the identification plate, tags, and markings on the valve for size, pressureclass, maximum OPERATING pressure andtemperature, and FIRST! FOR YOUR SAFETY, TAKETHE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS BEFOREREMOVING THE VALVE ASSEMBLY FROMTHE LINE, OR BEFORE ANY 'S IN THE LINE?
BE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT FLUID IS INTHE LINE. IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT,DOUBLE CHECK WITH THE YOU PROTECTED?WEAR ANY PROTECTIVE CLOTHING ANDEQUIPMENT NORMALLY REQUIRED TOAVOID INJURY FROM THE PARTICULARFLUID IN THE IS THE LINE DEPRESSURIZED?DEPRESSURIZE THE LINE AND DRAINTHE SYSTEM FLUID. CYCLE THE VALVESEVERAL TIMES TO RELIEVE ANYPRESSURE STILL INSIDE THE IS IMPORTANT TO REFER TO THEIDENTIFICATION PLATE FASTENED TO EACHVALVE FOR MAXIMUM PRESSURE RATINGSAND MATERIAL DESCRIPTION.
IN CASETHERE IS ANY QUESTION CONCERNING THEVALVE, REFER TO PBV-USA FOR end protectors when ready forinstallation. Check valve interior and connectingpipe to assure they are reasonably clean and freeof foreign in line with either end valves having extensions, check all extensionpiping and fittings to ensure that all are tight priorto placing valve in not inject sealant into the stem or seat greasefittings. These are for emergency sure that flange end gasket surfaces are freefrom dirt or irregularities, which may affect sealingperformance.
Confirm gasket materials andbolting material, size and length. Series5700/6700 ball valves Sizes 2 through 4 Class150/300 require threaded bolt holes of valve flanges and pipe gasket and bolts. Alignment must beaccurate to prevent unbalanced tightening andsubsequent excessive stress on suitable lubricants on bolt threads. Tightenthe bolts gradually and uniformly in a crosswisepattern in accordance with standard pipingpractices. The ends of the studs should extendequally beyond the installing the valve, be sure to check thestuds and nuts of the Body-Closure flanges andretighten if STREAM MAINTENANCEThis section covers MAINTENANCE and repairwhich can be performed without removing valvefrom the performing any work on this valve.
