Time of Burning & Loss ofMass of rigid Thermoset Cellular Plastics in a VerticalPosition-ASTM E84 Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics ofBuilding Materials-ASTM E96 Test Method for Water Vapour Transmission of MaterialsENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN CRITERIA AND UTILITIESD esign Basis Climatic ConditionsDesigns shall be based on outdoor exposure to the conditions describedasnormalatmosphericconditions. Conditions specific to the relevant EquipmentPackage & process parameters related to PIPING will be detailed by the contractoron individual EQUIPMENT Data Sheets as per approved P&ID s on the basis ofprocess design criteria attachedin bid package and the same shall be submittedto the company for LifeThe process facilities design life requirement is 25 REQUIREMENTSThe Supplier s standard designs (if applicable)

Which meet the performancerequirements and which will operate in the marine environment for 25 years maybe considered with prior approval of Requiring shall be insulated for the purpose of conservation of heat, temperaturestabilization, personnel protection, condensation prevention (anti-sweat) orlimiting noise and EQUIPMENT operating with fluid temperature in excess of 54oC orbelow 10oC shall be insulated as burn or freeze protection for personnel to aheight of above grade and platforms and outside the platforms,KLM TechnologyGroupProject Engineering StandardINSULATIONOF PIPING & EQUIPMENT (PROJECT standards ANDSPECIFICATIONS)Page4of31 Rev: 01 April2011walkways, etc.

With the exception that lines operating above 200oC shall befully transfer EQUIPMENT in hot services, other than coolers and condensers, shall be completelyinsulated except for supporting members and flanges, channel flanges and nozzle necks shall not be necks shall be insulated to the nozzle PIPING and EQUIPMENT operating with fluid temperatures below 27oC shallbe insulated for condensation prevention ( anti-sweat ). Nozzles, componentsand appurtenances shall be insulated and covered with vapor barrier andweatherproof accessories (such as level controllers, level gauges, pipe bridles, etc)whichare attached to insulated EQUIPMENT shall be insulated with equivalentthickness and materials required for the EQUIPMENT .

The INSULATION shall notobstruct operation or necessary viewing of EQUIPMENT components, drains, vents and sample that is considered a potential source of noise should be following hot parts shall not be insulated, except for burn protection:-Man ways, manholes and inspection openings on hot inspection plates and nameplates-Connectors and tube unions on fin-tube heat exchang-Flanges of PIPING and EQUIPMENT in hot service-Expansion and rotating jointsMATERIALSG eneralAll new materials shall be used. Materials showing any evidence of containingcontamination or moisture shall not be materials for EQUIPMENT and PIPING shall be suitable for the application, operation, and temperature and be compatible with the contained materials shall have the following properties .

-Completely freefrom all forms of chloride and fluoride ion concentrations as low as possible,20ppm by mass neutral, with pH preferably between 7 and 8 in the wet TechnologyGroupProject Engineering StandardINSULATIONOF PIPING & EQUIPMENT (PROJECT standards ANDSPECIFICATIONS)Page5of31 Rev: 01 April2011-Non-combustible and odorless at operating sufficient compressive strength that the method of fixing and finish shallnot damage the and polyisocyanurate (polyurethane) foams shall not be used forservices, which may exceed 100oC because these produce toxic smoke wire mesh reinforcement shall be stainless steel grade Line schedule and the PIPING and Instrument Diagrams shall indicate thethickness and INSULATION classification following INSULATION classifications are described in this specification .

-CLow temperature INSULATION designated for processes with operatingtemperatures below 21oC where heat gain is undesirable, or for theprevention of condensation on pipes and EQUIPMENT with operatingtemperatures below conservation INSULATION designated for all processes (except heattransfer fluids) with operating temperatures at or above protection INSULATION designated for EQUIPMENT and vesselswith operating temperatures in excess of 54oC or below for Low Temperature Services (Class C)The following materials shall be used for PIPING and vessel INSULATION for Class C:-Preformed or foamed-in-place polyurethane for PIPING up to and blocks, segments or foamed in place sections for PIPING andvessels greater than foam shall conform to ASTM C591, Type 11, with a flame spreadrating not exceeding 25 in accordance with ASTM E84.
