1 The American Academy in Berlin Berlin Prize Residency Program Deadline: 9/30/15 The American Academy offers residential fellowships to emerging as well as established scholars, writers, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin. Around two dozen Berlin Prizes are conferred annually. Fellowships are typically awarded for an academic semester or, in some cases, for an entire academic year. Only the Bosch Fellowships in Public Policy may be for shorter stays of six to eight weeks. Fellowship benefits include round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, partial board, and a stipend of $5,000 per month. The Academy s furnished apartments at the Hans Arnhold Center are suitable for individuals and couples; accommodations are available for families with children at the Hans Arnhold Center or at nearby apartments.

2 All fellows are expected to reside at the Hans Arnhold Center during the entire term of the award. American Academy in Rome Rome Prize Eleven-Month Fellowships Deadline: 11/1/15 The Rome Prize is awarded to emerging artists and scholars in the early or middle stages of their careers who represent the highest standard of excellence in the arts and humanities. Rome Prize recipients are generally invited to Rome for eleven months (some design fellowships are six months and some pre-doctoral art history fellowships are two years). The Rome Prize consists of room and board, a stipend and separate work space, and privileged access to Rome. Eleven-month fellowships generally begin at the Academy in early-September and end at the beginning of August.

3 Winners of six-month fellowships may choose to begin in early September and end in early-March or begin in early-January and end in early-July American Institute of Indian Studies Fellowship Competition Deadline: 7/1 AIIS welcomes applicants from a wide variety of disciplines. Applications to conduct research in india may be made in the following categories: Senior Research Fellowships: Available to scholars who hold the or its equivalent. Senior Fellowships are designed to enable scholars in all disciplines who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in india . Senior Fellows establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution.

4 Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months. A limited number of humanists will be granted fellowships paid in dollars funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships: Available to established scholars who have not previously specialized in Indian studies and to established professionals who have not previously worked or studied in india . Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellows are formally affiliated with an Indian institution. Awards may be granted for periods of six to nine months. International Sabbatical Funding Opportunities Senior Performing and creative arts Fellowships: Available to accomplished practitioners of the performing arts of india and creative artists who demonstrate that study in india would enhance their skills, develop their capabilities to teach or perform in the , enhance American involvement with india s artistic traditions, and strengthen their links with peers in india .

5 Awards will normally be for periods of up to four months, although proposals for periods of up to nine months can be considered. American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies Fellowship Program Deadline: 12/1 The sponsor provides fellowships to support two to nine months of research in Sri Lanka by citizens who already hold a or the equivalent at the time they begin their fellowship tenure. Both scholars with little or no experience in Sri Lanka as well as specialists are encouraged to apply. Projects in all fields in the social sciences, humanities and policy sciences are eligible. Proposals in other areas that contribute to the understanding of Sri Lankan history, culture, or society are also invited.

6 The American Research Center in Egypt Fellowships for Research in Egypt Deadline: 1/15/16 ARCE administers research fellowships for students enrolled in doctoral programs at North American universities, and for postdoctoral scholars and professionals affiliated with North American universities and research institutions. Fellowships are awarded for periods ranging from 3-12 months, depending on the Funding source. Areas of study include Archaeology, Architecture, Art, Economics, Egyptology, History, Humanistic Social Sciences, Islamic Studies, Literature, Political Science, Religious Studies, Anthropology, Coptic Studies. American Research Institute in Turkey Fellowship Programs Deadline: 11/1/15 The sponsor provides fellowships for research in Turkey on ancient, medieval, or modern times, in any field of the humanities and social sciences.

7 Grants for tenures up to one academic year will be considered; applications for projects of shorter duration are also supported. The rni Magn sson Institute for Icelandic Studies The Snorri Sturluson Icelandic Fellowships Deadline: 10/31 Granted to writers, translators and scholars (not to university students) in the field of humanities, from outside Iceland, to enable them to stay in Iceland for a period of at least three months, in order to improve their knowledge of the Icelandic language, culture and society. Australian Academy of Science Selby Travelling Fellowship Deadline: June 15 Fellowships are awarded to distinguished overseas scientists to visit Australia for public lecture/seminar tours and to visit scientific centers in Australia.

8 Fellows are expected to increase public awareness of science and scientific issues and accordingly will be outstanding lecturers to the general lay public. See other travelling fellowships: Australian National University Humanities Research Centre Visiting Fellowships Deadline: Contact sponsor The Humanities Research Centre, with the Research School of Humanities & arts (RSHA), administers a visiting fellowship program to enhance its national and International links with humanities scholars. The Humanities Research Centre visiting fellowship program has been running for the last 35 years. Scholars working within any of the three large research themes/clusters of the RSHA (Crossing Cultures, Crossing Times; Art, Creativity and Performance; and Lives, Literatures, Languages) are welcome to apply.

9 The HRC will fund a number of short-term visiting fellows (of up to 12 weeks) to take up residence at the HRC. The Funding covers air travel and accommodation for the period of stay. Visiting fellows will be provided with office space and ANU library facilities. Bogliasco Foundation/Liguria Study Center for the arts and Humanities Bogliasco Fellowships Deadline: January 15th and April 15th Approximately 50 Fellowships - or residencies - are awarded to artists and scholars in the various disciplines of the arts and Humanities (Archaeology, Architecture, Classics, Dance, Film/Video, History, Landscape Architecture, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Theater, and Visual arts ).

10 Fellows are provided with living quarters, separate private studios and full board for a month at the Study Center in Bogliasco, Italy. Applicants should demonstrate significant achievement in their disciplines, commensurate with their age and experience. Residencies at the Bogliasco Study Center last approximately 30 to 34 days and are scheduled during the two semesters of the academic year: Fall (mid-September to the third week of December) and Spring (Early February to the second week of May). Calgary Institute for the Humanities Fellowships Deadline: the last Friday of October The Calgary Institute for the Humanities was established at the University of Calgary in 1976 to foster advance study and research in a broad range of subject areas.
